Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the most common questions we are asked about our services. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us 571-407-2087

The first session is an opportunity for you to begin building a strong therapeutic relationship with the therapist, establish trust, and begin identifying goals for treatment. You can expect to discuss the reasons why you sought therapy, and any symptoms or issues you are experiencing. It’s important to remember that therapy is a collaborative process and everyone must play an active role.

Each therapy session is between 50 – 60 minutes. There is no specific recommendation for the length of the entire therapy process over time. It depends on the unique needs of the individual. Some come to therapy with a very specific problem (i.e., reduce feelings of anxiety and depression, and learn how to set healthy boundaries) and once the problem is resolved, individuals are content and ready to end therapy. However, other matters such as trauma, PTSD, and severe depression require more sessions. Remember, we are here to support and educate our clients on healthy ways to heal, connect, and create wellness.

At this time, we are not credentialed with insurance panels. We do accept HSA and FSA cards as payment for sessions, and Playworks Counseling and Wellness is considered an out-of-network provider, which means your insurance company may reimburse a portion of your costs if you file a claim yourself.

We provide you with an invoice and superbills for services that include the necessary information for you to file for reimbursement with your insurance provider. Please contact your insurance company for more information regarding the reimbursement process (see out-of-network info below).

All payments are required on the day of service. Payments and clinical documents are completed in our HIPAA-compliant client portal.

You can locate your out-of-network coverage by logging into the insurance company’s website or by calling the number on the back of your card. Here is a list of questions to ask:

  • How much of my deductible has been met this year?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health? (Outpatient means treatment outside a hospital.)
  • What is my out-of-network coinsurance for outpatient mental health?
  • Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?
  • How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement? (Claims are forms that are sent to your insurance company to receive reimbursement for sessions you paid for out of pocket).

All appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance or a $50 fee will be charged. You can reschedule or cancel your appointment by contacting your therapist, sending a message through the client portal, or calling the office.
